【喜芳とは？】

大正9年京都府生まれの念珠師です。13才で念珠屋へ奉公に入り、以来、倒れる寸前まで念珠を作り続けました。
平成16年に京都府伝統産業優秀技術賞を念珠師として初受賞。
2023年現在、念珠師として「京都府伝統産業優秀技術賞」を受賞した技師は、喜芳を含めてたった3人です。
名工として、平成18年～平成26年まで名工展に創作念珠を出展しており、その独自性は分野内外から高く評価されました。

喜芳の技術と想いは、喜芳工房の職人たちに受け継がれています。

【喜芳工房とは？】

喜芳が健在であった時から現在に至るまで、職人を養成しています。この職人たちが所属する工房を「喜芳工房」と呼んでいます。

喜芳は、弟子の一人ひとりの適正を見極めて、それぞれが得意な工程の技術を伸ばすことを大事にしていました。
そのため、職人はそれぞれ得意な分野が「珠をとおす」、「軸を編む」、「房を付ける」、などはっきりと分かれています。

その結果として、一つひとつの工程のスペシャリストが育成されています。
各工程で高い品質のパーツが仕立てられているため、最終的にすべてを組み合わせたときに、クオリティの高い製品に仕上がります。

【喜芳工房の信念】

喜芳工房が何よりも大切にしているのは、 「念珠を持つ人の幸せを願い、その人のお守りとなるように念じて作る」 という喜芳の想いを受け継ぐことです。
念珠は、故人を偲ぶときに使う大切なもの。 念珠は「念ずる珠」とかくように、心のお守りとなります。
時には、ふとした瞬間に見るだけで、あるいは触るだけで心安らぐ拠り所として使っていただけるように、一つひとつ丁寧に、心をこめて作ります。

She is rosary master born in Kyoto Prefecture in 1920. At the age of 13, She was apprenticed to a rosary shop, and since then she continued making rosary beads until she was on the verge of collapsing.
In 2004, she received the Kyoto Prefecture Traditional Industry Excellent Technique Award for the first time as a rosary craftsman.
As of 2023, there are only three engineers, including Kiho, who have received the Kyoto Prefecture Traditional Industry Excellent Technique Award as a rosary craftsman.
As a master craftsman, she exhibited creative rosary beads at the Master Craftsman Exhibition from 2006 to 2014, and his originality was highly evaluated both inside and outside the field.

Kiho’s techniques and passion have been handed down to the craftsmen of Kiho Koubou.

[What is Kiho Koubou? ]

From the time Kiho was still alive to the present, we have been training craftsmen. The workshop to which these craftsmen belong is called “Kiho Koubou”.

Kiho valued the suitability of each of her disciples and encouraged them to develop their skills in the process that they were good at.
For this reason, craftsmen are clearly divided in their areas of specialty, such as “threading beads”, “weaving shafts”, and “attaching tassels”.

As a result, specialists are trained for each process.
High-quality parts are tailored in each process, so when you put everything together in the end, you get a high-quality product.

[Belief of Kiho Koubou]

What Kiho Koubou values above all else is to inherit Kiho’s thought, “I wish for the happiness of the person who holds the rosary, and make it as a talisman for that person.”
Rosary is an important item used when remembering the deceased. Rosary beads can be used as a talisman for the mind, as they are called “Nenjyu”.
Sometimes, just by looking at it for a moment, or just by touching it, We make each one carefully and wholeheartedly so that you can use it as a place to rest your mind.
